Last winter I took a ten week poetry workshop at The Writers’ Workshoppe in Port Townsend, Washington. This class was conducted by Michael D’Alessandro who among many things, is founder of bedouin books, taught at Marylhurst University in Portland, Oregon and is the Executive Director of Northwind Arts Center. It was a delightful writing experience, in that it made me: 1) accountable for producing a poem a week, 2) experiment with different paths to enter poetry and 3) meet other inclusive and thoughtful poets.
One week we discussed surrealism and I took the opportunity to write a poem using some of the ideas shared. It was a poem unlike most of my work, and it was a lot of fun! I submitted my poem titled “Not Another Morning”, to Off the Coast, Maine’s International Poetry Journal, and am happy to report it got accepted! Thank you so much to Valerie Lawson and Michael Brown, editors of this delightful journal for including it in the Spring 2015 volume: Pixelated and Wanting.
The cover was done by internationally acclaimed photographer Eleanor Leonne Bennett, who is an amazing artist.
Yours in poetry,
