An Irish Poem

One of my favorite poets is Seamus Heaney and I wrote about my experience arriving in Ireland a day after he had died in an earlier blog.

In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day and all things Irish, here is one of my favorite poems of his, titled “When All The Others Were Away At Mass”.

Yours in poetry,

Carey

  1. Ah Carey, (I’m saying that in my Irish accent voice) I loved Seamus, I love to say that name, but I loved your poem even more – I loved remembering “widowmaker” I loved that your husband spoke that word in the poem – it was simply beautiful.
